Diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1996, Clay was @ the height of his career in 1996, when he had some episodes affecting his speech,balance,& coordination. That was when he was diagnosed with the early stages of MS. He was candid with his fans about the chronic,debiliting disease of the central nervous system, explaing that it will eventually cripple him. But vowed to continue to perform for as long as he is able.

Clay has a border collie named Semi (short for Semi Sweet)
